Belmont Baptist was started by a handful of families in 1947. The first building for Belmont was Army barracks from Camp Barkeley (1940-45), a massive WWII training base. Belmont was a thriving congregation for many years. But in recent years it had experienced decline and only a few, mostly elderly members, remained.

In the spring of 2025 the leadership of Belmont and Dr. Blake White, the pastor of Southside Baptist Church, had conversations about Southside Baptist helping with the revitalization of Belmont. Several families began attending in Belmont in the Spring of 2025 to explore whether it was God’s will for them to be a part of the revitalization. On Sunday, June 28, 2025, the remaining members of Belmont voted to accept a recommended pastor and any members who would come from Southside to help revitalize Belmont.

In August of 2025, Bobby Towell, an elder from Southside and a retired pastor, was recommended to serve as the pastor of Belmont.

We thank God for his faithfulness, as Belmont is now experiencing revitalization! Be a part of the new beginning at Belmont! For the glory of God!
